In 2006, registered nurse Mary Hall stepped back from a decades-long hospital career to care for her own mother through the progression of Alzheimer’s disease. What she witnessed during those years—the quiet gaps in how families are supported when they bring a loved one home—moved her to act. She founded Caring Hands Loving Hearts on a single conviction: that people deserve to be cared for with dignity, in the place they feel most themselves.
For years, the agency served seniors across the community with that same hands-on devotion. When Mary’s caregiving journey came to a close, the company quietly went dormant, but the values behind it never did.
Her son, Nicholas, grew up inside that mission. He began his own career as a caregiver at eighteen, spent years at the bedside of patients in palliative and hospice care, and ultimately found his calling supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
In 2021, Nicholas set out to bring back the company where it all started. After five years of nights and weekends, Caring Hands Loving Hearts reopened its doors on May 4, 2026, this time as a Pennsylvania ODP provider serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
Today the agency is led by the same family that built it. We provide home and community-based services rooted in a belief we have held from the very beginning: that the people we support, and their families, deserve to be cared for the way we would want our own family cared for.
To advocate for and deliver Home and Community-Based Services to the intellectual/developmental disability and autism (ID/A) community—helping people grow to their fullest potential in their pursuit of happiness. We believe Trust, Dedication, and Perseverance are foundational, and we build meaningful relationships rooted in Reciprocity: kindness rewards kindness. To do this, we collaborate with individuals, advocacy groups, volunteers, non-profits, and businesses who want to build a continuity of relationships.

Nicholas was introduced to home and community-based care as a young teenager. When his grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, his mother opened her home to care for her for over four years, until she passed. That experience gave Nicholas an early, firsthand understanding of what families in home and community-based care truly need.
His mother founded the original Caring Hands Loving Hearts to serve seniors, and it was there, at eighteen, that Nicholas’s own career as a caregiver began.
He worked for his mother’s agency and others over the years. He spent three years in nursing school while working full-time supporting elderly patients through palliative and hospice care, logging countless hours at the bedside of people in the final stage of their lives, helping them pass with dignity. The experience left a profound and lasting mark on him. Many of those patients became his teachers and mentors through some of the most difficult chapters of his own life, and he has always believed that the people he supported, along with their families, gave him as much as he ever gave them.
While caregiving and attending nursing school, Nicholas was asked to help care for an elderly man’s grandson, a young man with profound autism. He had no way of knowing that saying yes to that request would shape the entire course of his career.
Nicholas fell in love with the ID/A community. He changed his major from nursing to social sciences, earned his degree, and went on to a supervisory role with a residential ODP provider. He continued to sharpen his skills and moved into progressively senior roles across several organizations, but he always knew that one day he would bring back the company where it all started.
That journey began in 2021. Five years of nights and weekends later, the day finally arrived. On May 4, 2026, Caring Hands Loving Hearts reopened its doors, this time to serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Nicholas comes from a family raised to place the well-being of others above all else. Many of his relatives have spent their careers in ID/A care, and the values instilled in him from a young age guide everything he does. He shares his life with his fiancee and their young daughter, whom he hopes will one day take over the family business and carry the mission forward.

Mary graduated from Villanova University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and passed her Registered Nurse licensure examination that same year. Over a career now spanning more than four decades, she has built a reputation for compassionate care, steady clinical leadership, and an unwavering commitment to the people she serves.
She began at a prominent teaching hospital, where four years of bedside practice gave her a strong clinical foundation. She then stepped into leadership as Director of Nursing across long-term care facilities for seven years, managing complex operations while raising six children and holding full-time employment. Returning to acute care, she served as Nursing Supervisor for an entire hospital for more than a decade, while also providing specialized care in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit.
In 2006, when her mother was diagnosed with progressive Alzheimer’s disease, Mary made the heartfelt decision to step back from full-time hospital work to care for her at home. The gaps she witnessed in home-based services for the elderly moved her to found Caring Hands Loving Hearts, a home care agency built on a simple belief: that seniors deserve dignity and support in their own homes. She personally operated the agency from 2006 until 2014, all while serving as Night Shift Nursing Supervisor at a surgical facility and lovingly caring for her mother until her passing in 2010.
After pausing the agency in 2014, Mary returned to her longtime acute care hospital, where she served as Nursing Supervisor for five years and then as a Care Manager. Her focus later turned toward intellectual and developmental disabilities, where she took on the role of Director of Nursing for an organization serving individuals with IDD. For the past nine years, she has also opened her home as a Lifesharing provider, offering compassionate, around-the-clock care to an individual with complex medical needs.
Today, Mary returns to the agency she founded, now as Clinical Director of Caring Hands Loving Hearts. Where she once built the company to bring dignity to seniors in their homes, she now lends her clinical expertise to its renewed mission supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, bringing her career full circle. Across more than forty years, six children, and thirteen grandchildren, Mary has remained guided by the same sense of purpose that has defined her life: placing the well-being of others, always, above all else.

Steven Hall serves as Program Director with a passion for ensuring individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities receive the highest quality care possible. Since entering the field in 2018 as a Direct Support Professional, Steven has dedicated his career to learning every aspect of human services, steadily advancing through leadership roles while remaining grounded in the values that first drew him to the profession.
Coming from a family dedicated to helping others, with a mother who is a Registered Nurse and a father who served as an EMT, Steven was inspired from an early age to pursue a career centered on service, compassion, and advocacy. Encouraged by his brother Nick, the organization’s founder, he discovered a passion for supporting individuals in living meaningful, fulfilling lives and creating environments where they can thrive.
At the heart of Steven’s approach is the Golden Rule: caring for others the way he would want his own family to be cared for when no one is watching. He believes quality care is about far more than meeting basic needs. It is about fostering independence, creating meaningful experiences, and ensuring individuals are surrounded by people who genuinely care. Steven is committed to maintaining high standards, promoting accountability, and building strong support systems for both individuals and staff. He understands that when caregivers feel valued, supported, and empowered, the quality of care naturally follows.
Known for his approachable nature, reliability, and unwavering dedication, Steven takes pride in being someone others can depend on. Whether supporting families, mentoring staff, or navigating challenges, he believes in showing up, listening, and finding solutions. His leadership is rooted in compassion, perseverance, and the belief that every individual deserves dignity, respect, and the opportunity to live a meaningful life.
Outside of work, Steven enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, daughter, and the family’s happy Bichon Poodle, Louie. Family remains at the center of his life and continues to inspire the same care, patience, and commitment he brings to the individuals and families he serves every day.
